Island Synagogue welcomes Rabbi Sholom Rubanowitz, lawyer, athlete and rabbi for “The Shul on the Beach” on the Venice Boardwalk in Southern California, for a Shabbaton series of lectures on Shabbat, May 17 and 18. Friday, May 17, at 7 pm join us for services and a festive Shabbat meal where Rabbi Rubanowitz will present the first of three talks relating to the present special time period of “Sefira,” marking the days between Passover and the holiday of Shavuot, when the Jewish people received the Torah at Mt. Sinai. He’ll describe mystical and practical insights about this time of year, with implications for relationships, parenting and even “how to perform miracles.”  Register now for the delicious buffet dinner.
