Rabbi Hillel Goldberg was born in Denver, Colorado and educated at the University of California at Berkeley and at Yeshiva University (BA), at Brandeis University (PhD in Modern Jewish Intellectual History, with a focus on the Mussar movement), and the Novorodock Yeshiva in Jerusalem (Rabbinic Ordination). He is the Executive Editor of the Intermountain Jewish News. Rabbi Goldberg has won more Simon Rockower Awards for Excellence in Jewish Journalism than any other person.
He has taught at Brandeis, Emory and the Hebrew Universities. He is the author of three books on the Mussar movement (Israel Salanter: Text, Structure, Idea; The Fire Within; and Illuminating the Generations); Between Berlin and Slobodka: Jewish Transition Figures from Eastern Europe; and Hallel Hakohen (Hebrew): Unravelling the Elliptical Commentary of the Vilna Gaon on the Laws of Mikveh.
Rabbi Goldberg was the founding halachic adviser of Torah Bamidbar, an Orthodox community in a Reform temple in Santa Fe, New Mexico; has designed mikva’ot in Denver, Boulder, Salt Lake City and Tokyo; and has organized a variety of other outreach activities in Denver and Grand Junction, Colorado.
